Our current template contains the following worksheets:
- Products
- Categories
- Tags (optional)
- Extra Item Data (optional)
- Related Product Pages (optional)
Products
The data you populate on this worksheet controls the creation of product pages in Nomad. This sheet contains four columns but only the External Id and Product Page Name field are required.
ExternalId
This field should be set equal to the value of the item number you use in your ERP. This field is not used to display on the storefront if you specify a display item number in the optional item data worksheet.
Product Page Id
This field allow you to set a specific, unique ID for each product page. If this field is left blank, the ID will be automatically generated from the Item ID.
Product Page Name
This field allows you to provide an accurate but brief name for the page your item(s) will reside on. This name is displayed on product pages, category based product listing pages, and is leveraged as a search term by our site search. Currently, we only support a single item to product page correlation but we do allow multiple items to exist on the same product page. If you plan on creating multi-item pages, you must use identical product page names for those items to appear on the same product page.
Short Description (optional)
This is a 128 character, plain text field that displays on product listing pages as a brief description of the product page. Short Description is tied to the Product Page, not to the item; if you plan on creating multi-item pages, you must use identical Short Descriptions for those items to appear on the same product page.
Long Description (optional)
This is an unlimited length field on each product page that supports plain text, markdown, and HTML. This is a fully indexed field by our site search and should be utilized to provide detailed descriptions of the item(s) on your product pages. Long Description is tied to the Product Page, not to the item; if you plan on creating multi-item pages, you must use identical Long Descriptions for those items to appear on the same product page.
Category Pages
The data you populate on this worksheet controls the assignment of product pages to specific category pages. The way you organize your category tree determines your main navigation header and the depth of which your product pages are organized.
External Id
This field should be set equal to the value of the item number you use in your ERP. This field is not used to display on the storefront if you specify a display item number in the optional item data worksheet.
Category
This field will create a category page named the value of what is populated. The first category column contains your top level navigation, and the last category column is the end of the site's category based navigation. You can create additional category columns if you require more, but we recommend not exceeding three (3) steps in categorization to reach a product page. You can assign a product page to multiple categories by entering a new row with the <i>same External Id</i> and a unique category tree formed in the other category columns in that same row. If you are categorizing a multi-item product page you only need to use a single item from that page for all categorization assignments.
Tags (optional)
Tags are plain text values stored against an item on a product page and leveraged as filterable options on product listings, multi-item product pages, and search result pages.
External Id
This field should be set equal to the value of the item number you use in your ERP. This field is not used to display on the storefront if you specify a display item number in the optional item data worksheet.
Tag Set Name
This field has a max length of 128 characters and is the only field in the data template that should be edited in the header row. Please change each column named "Tag Set Name" in the first row to the specific tag set names that best describe the attribute you are assigning against an item. Please feel free to add as many tag sets as you desire. Each row of this sheet that contains an External Id will have its tag values associated to that item. If an item does not contain a tag value in a particular tag set, leave that cell in that column and row blank. To assign multiple tags to a single tag set, place all tag values in one field, seperated by a pipe symbol: |
Please note that tag values are plain text and can not exceed 128 characters.
Extra Item Data (optional)
This worksheet exists in the event you would like to prevent certain ERP synced fields from displaying online or need more specific information around items.
